Katy is a psychotherapist in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

She has been in private practice since 1986. Before and during those years, she was employed at inpatient and outpatient alcohol and drug treatment centers. She has taught in the College of Nursing, the Department of Counseling and School of Medicine at the University of North Dakota. She has worked at Northeast Regional Human Service Center. After the Grand Forks flood of 1997, she worked in a counseling capacity for Disaster Outreach for a year.

Katy has a master's degree and doctorate in Counseling; her bachelor's degree is in Psychology.

She is married to Paul H. Wright, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology. The Wrights have five grown children.

Katy has participated with her husband, Paul, in studying personal relationships. They have five joint publications on relationships.

Katy started training in hypnosis in 1994. She is certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Association of Clinical Hypnosis. She is certified as a hypnotherapist by the National Guild of Hypnotists.
These are two of the major certifying bodies for hypnosis in the world.
